Saddle Up Scholars joins for a one week summer riding camp

Hosted by Mooreland Farm, a Schuster Foundation riding program, this summer's weeklong riding camp was a hit! Riders from Graceland Park Elementary/Middle School and Ruth M. Kirk Center enjoyed five fun-filled days of horsing around and learning more about different equestrian professions. In addition to their riding lessons, students got to enjoy demonstrations from farrier Steve Bright about shoeing horses, Pat Cameron about equine bodywork, and Nicole Wood about braiding. A special treat was a field trip to both Country Life and Merryland Farms, hosted by Christy Holden, where the riders could see all aspects of Thoroughbred breeding and racing, including petting foals and watching youngsters train on the track. The week was capped off by a fun show, where riders rode a dressage test and performed a pattern in a trail class for judge Karen Scott. It was a great week, and we are excited to begin tutoring several of the campers once the school year begins!
